I make smoothies and juice almost daily. It’s easy and a great way to get lots of vegetables or fiber in for the day.
My kids love them the most…and guess what? I jam these smoothies with raw spinach, kale, carrots, and even purple sweet potato. What an awesome way to share the healthy goodness, with zero complaints from the little people.
Once pineapple season is underway, pineapple basil smoothie is my go to. I actually really like the off set flavoring the basil gives and it is the perfect herbaceous compliment to pineapple which can be a little too sweet or even sour. The two go very well together.
Lastly, this recipe came about because when I eat pineapple by itself, my throat gets a little itchy. So funny enough, this mix of pineapple with basil is incredibly delicious and tastes very smooth.
What is Pineapple Basil Smoothie
This is the recipe for one of the best detox, post-workout, get energy, anti inflammatory, and awake the senses kind of shake.
Pineapple and basil compliment each other and the frothy pineapple whips up into a creamy and beautifully hued drink.
The texture is very light, creamy, and not thick like a frozen fruit smoothie, but more in between being a juice and smoothie. I recommend serving this very cold, over ice, and consuming it right away to get all the benefits of the ingredients mixed together.

Ingredients
- Sweet, Ripe Pineapple – Fresh, frozen, or canned. I like fresh best, but whichever one be sure it is cold and sweet. Must be well chilled, thawed pineapple.
- Basil – A few fresh basil leaves work perfectly.
- Water – The balance element and makes this smoothie simple and hydrating.
- Honey – Imparts warm sweetness and balances the pineapple taste. Use agave or dates to make it vegan.
- Ice – This is a must in the serving glass. It gives the smoothie drink a nice chill.
Equipment
Nutribullet, Vitamix, or high power Blender – This is a must so the ingredients are completely blended. If you do not have a high powered blender, then the mixture comes out grainy.
Instructions
- Cut the pineapple into chunks and place in the blender.
- Add a few clean basil leaves.
- Pour in the honey.
- Add the water.
- Blend until completely smooth.
- Pour over a tall glass with ice and enjoy!

Add Ins and Variations
- add banana or apple
- try with a little coconut milk added in the mix
- add chia seeds
- try with ginger

Conclusion
Recharge and reset your system with this healthy and yummy concoction that makes you feel as good as it looks. Since the blend is all the fruit and not strained, this juicy smoothie provides some fullness and makes a great snack anytime of the day.
Don’t miss some of these incredible fruit drinks that are natural, sweetened mostly by fruit, and have great presentation to impress yourself and anyone lucky to have a taste…cantaloupe melon drink, honeydew drink, and Vietnamese coffee with grass jelly.
