This fresh fruit drink brings on the wow factor with creamy spoonfuls of ice cold honeydew.

What is Honeydew?

Honeydew is a type of melon, known for its pale green flesh and sweet, juicy flavor.

Honeydew melons are typically round or slightly oval in shape with a smooth rind.

They have a high water content, making them refreshing and hydrating.

Honeydew is often enjoyed as a fresh fruit, used in salads, or created into refreshing drinks like the honeydew melon drink that you’ll discover right here.

What does Honeydew taste like?

Honeydew has a sweet and mildly floral flavor that is also refreshing and subtly juicy.

The flesh is tender and succulent, with a delicate melon aroma. Plus, it has a soft honey flavor!

Many people find honeydew to be slightly less sweet compared to other melons like cantaloupe.

Overall, honeydew has a mild and pleasant taste that pairs well with various flavors and can be enjoyed in a variety of drinks.

My favorite way to enjoy this green gem is by itself, or in this drink for a very exciting twist while still highlighting the flavor of honeydew.

Is Honeydew Drink Healthy?

So if you take honeydew and laden it with evaporated milk or sugar and all the above, maybe add boba and whole milk…it’s going to be wild and it’s not going to be considered very healthy.

So overall, in contrast…this honeydew melon drink is one of the most unique honeydew melon recipes and Summer drinks, but also on the healthier side.

Consider this, you’re eating a big cup of honeydew in the process. Add a little regular almond milk and lace the top with condensed milk and honey to your preference.

Undoubtedly, I definitely recommend a very ripe honeydew and you will not need much sweeteners, but the condensed milk and honey bring on the flavor.

It’s like a warm hug for a ice cold Summer drink that deserves applause because it’s more than half sweetened by natural fruit.

Honeydew is a Better Choice

Given these points, honeydew is loaded with water and also high in Vitamin C. It’s refreshing and a great alternative to processed desserts, commercial sweet drinks, and sodas…so choose honeydew when you can.

I feel guilt free eating this “dessert” style drink because of all the health benefits of honeydew.

When it’s been a big workout day, or I’m just looking to indulge a little, this non alcoholic Summer drink recipe is so beautiful to look at, tastes satisfying, and is fun to eat!

I even consider it for breakfast, it’s that good.

When cantaloupes are ripe and also available, be sure to not miss the other cantaloupe melon drink version of this yummy recipe.

How to choose a Honeydew

Choosing a ripe melon or ripe honeydew is all a very same and simple process.

Keep in mind these three S’s. Smell, Sound, and Sight.

Overall, it needs to smell sweet. Stick your nose to the end where it was picked, and it should smell sweet. This “bellybutton” should be a little soft too.

The sound should be dense. You don’t need to knock on every melon, but you can give a tap with the flat of your hand and it should be dense and feel heavy. The denser and heavier, the more water aka honeydew juice.

Lastly, the sight of the honeydew doesn’t need to look as good as what is inside. After all, it’s the inside that always counts. So choose a honeydew that looks stretched and smooth, maybe has a worn out spot from laying on the ground, and has a more yellow than green color.

Honeydew melon drink is a unique and star recipe for non alcoholic Summer drinks that take fresh fruit to a new level.

Ingredients for Honeydew Drink

  • Ripe Honeydew – Naturally sweet and refreshing, the star ingredient of this drink.
  • Regular Oat Milk or Almond Milk – Adds a creamy, smooth texture while keeping it dairy-free.
  • Condensed Milk – Provides extra sweetness and a rich, velvety taste.
  • Honey – Enhances the natural sweetness with a light floral note.
  • Vanilla Extract (Optional) – Adds depth and a hint of warm aroma.
  • Lots of Ice – Keeps the drink chilled and extra refreshing.
  • try it with coconut milk or other nut milks
  • add a touch of vanilla
  • add a touch of brown sugar syrup
  • add cantaloupe shreds
  • add chia seeds
  • add tapioca pearls and make it a sago drink
  • add coconut jelly

Honeydew melon drink is so beautifully green, in one half of the actual melon, and shows melon shreds mixed with ice and sweetened milk. Served with a big spoon.
Go all sustainable and skip the glass. Make this Summer drink recipe right in the melon itself.

How to Make Honeydew Melon Drink

  1. Prepare the Honeydew – Cut the melon in half and scoop out the seeds using a spoon.
  2. Shred the Honeydew – Use a melon shredder (similar to a coconut shredder) to create uniform, thick shreds of honeydew. Tip: Scoring the melon beforehand can help create shorter shreds. A fork can also work, but a shredder gives the best results with less effort.
  3. Fill the Cup – Add plenty of ice to a glass and pour in plant-based milk until the cup is halfway full.
  4. Add the Honeydew – Gently layer the shredded honeydew on top of the milk and ice.
  5. Sweeten It Up – Drizzle a tablespoon of condensed milk over the honeydew, followed by a generous swirl of honey for added sweetness.
  6. Mix and Enjoy – Insert a long spoon, give it a good mix, and enjoy this refreshing, naturally sweet honeydew drink!

Important Note

Honeydew melon recipes with milk should be consumed right away. It should be mixed with ice and also do not let it sit around, because any regular milk (like the condensed milk) mixed with melon will react over time and produce a bitter taste due to enzymes in the melon that work with the proteins in milk.

How to Serve Honeydew Melon Drink

If you are serving this Summer drink for a party, which I totally recommend, then serve the honeydew melon separately and let people combine the liquids and the condensed milk at the end as a topping.

Use a squeeze bottle or serving bowl to keep the condensed milk separated, and make sure everything is on ice.
