mango iced tea
Naturally sweet with lots of mango, tea, ice, and some slapped mint…elevate your energy with mango iced tea. Yes, you read it right. Slap the mint with your hand to bring out its essence.

I love iced tea for everyday and all occasions. It is truly a universal drink and seems to be the go-to beverage for any day of the week.

Mango iced tea makes the cut whenever I can find yellow mango in the store.

Weekends are my fun moments to infuse these Asian iced teas and make unique combos from lychee iced tea, lemongrass iced tea, yuzu iced tea, and this all-time winner….ice mango tea.

Iced tea is also great because it’s a refreshing beverage that can be made even more fun by adding mango jelly or guava jelly for texture and added flavor.

Let’s go!

Why You’ll Love This Mango Iced Tea

  • Tropical & Refreshing: Perfectly sweet and hydrating.
  • Customizable: Add boba, jelly, or tapioca pearls for a bubble-tea twist.
  • Naturally Sweet: Mango brings flavor without overwhelming sugar.
  • Family-Friendly: Kids and adults alike will love it.
  • Visually Stunning: Vibrant golden-orange color looks amazing in a glass.

What Type of Tea to Use for Mango Iced Tea

  • Black tea
The best classic option. Bold, smooth, and strong enough to balance sweet mango flavor. I suggest Assam black tea for this recipe.
  • Jasmine tea
Light floral notes pair beautifully with tropical mango. This is really aromatic and light. Nice for the non-caffeine version.
  • Green tea
Clean, herbal, and lighter. Great if you want a fresher, less rich iced tea. It has a balanced caffeine and energy spike to it.
  • Oolong tea
Smooth and slightly roasted with more depth than green tea. A great middle-ground option. More robust.
  • Rooibos tea
Naturally caffeine-free with a mellow, slightly sweet flavor that works really well with mango. Have vanilla notes so this is special and non-cafinated.
  • Fruit teas
Peach, passionfruit, hibiscus, or tropical fruit teas pair especially well with mango and create a brighter, sweeter drink naturally. Also non-cafinated.
  • White tea
Delicate and light with subtle floral notes. Best for a softer, more elegant mango iced tea.

What Not to Use

  • Strong smoky teas like lapsang souchong can overpower the mango. Do not use Earl Grey or English Breakfast either. Too many floral, woodsy, and smoky notes to these teas.
  • Heavy spiced chai teas compete too much with the tropical flavor. Doesn’t quite match the mango flavor.
  • Very bitter teas can make the drink taste harsh once chilled
  • Overbrewed tea will overpower the mango and make the iced tea taste tannic instead of refreshing

Quick tip: Brew the tea slightly stronger than normal since the ice and mango will naturally dilute the flavor.

yellow mango
Yellow Ataulfo, Golden, or Manila mango is perfect for this mango iced tea recipe. They are especially sweet and creamy.

Tips for Perfect Mango Iced Tea

  1. Use ripe, sweet yellow mangoes for maximum flavor.
  2. Don’t oversteep tea—bitterness can overpower mango.
  3. Chill tea before adding ice to prevent dilution.
  4. Taste before sweetening—mango already adds natural sweetness.
  5. Add pearls or jelly just before serving for best texture.

Fun Variations

  • Sparkling Ice Mango Tea: Replace half of the tea with sparkling water for fizz.
  • Mango Bubble Tea: Add tapioca pearls and mango jelly for a bubble-tea café experience at home.
  • Creamy Mango Tea: Add sweetened coconut milk or for a tropical creamy version.
  • Jasmine Mango Tea: Brew jasmine tea for fragrant floral notes and add jasmine jelly cubes.

Storage and Leftovers

Storing mango iced tea is best in an airtight glass jar like a mason jar. This keeps it fresh, the best.

The texture, flavor, and vibrance of the mango (since it’s real and fresh mango) makes this drink best consumed within 2 days.

FAQs

Can I use frozen mango?
Yes, just thaw it first or blend it directly for a colder, thicker drink.

How do I make it less sweet?
Use less sweetener or choose naturally sweet ripe mangoes.

Can I make mango iced tea ahead of time?
Yes, store it in the fridge for up to 2 days and stir before serving.

Why does my tea taste bitter?
The tea was likely overbrewed. Brew gently and avoid steeping too long.

This Ultimate Mango Iced Tea is refreshing, vibrant, and customizable. Whether you enjoy it plain, with bubbles, or with mango/jasmine jelly cubes, it’s a fun, healthy, and sunny day treat!
