These 30 high protein Asian recipes meet the mark for high protein, healthy, wholesome, and full of flavor. This list goes over more than just chicken. Get your protein diet lifestyle elevated with Asian flavors, colorful mix ups, and savory sauces.
I lift weights (especially now that my body just needs to feel stronger and healthier) so eating protein is a must! I used to eat mostly vegan and low protein meals, and I’m all about vegan Asian food, too… BUT I need protein now. More protein.
I feel a lot better when I eat high protein recipes. I think my mind, body, and hormones all agree with that.
Why I recommend these high protein Asian recipes is because protein-rich ingredients don’t always have to taste bland, be deep-fried, or laden in tons of heavy sauce.
You can get bold and flavorful meals, with one pot recipes or an easy stir fry using light oil and all-natural seasonings.
My tip to enjoy a high protein meal is don’t be scared of carbs, salt, and sides! Yes, this recipes list is all about high-protein, but seasoning the protein and pairing these meals with rice, veggies, or lettuce wraps make it a complete meal… and you can make it low carb if you like to.
From Filipino chicken adobo to Japanese-inspired miso dishes and quick tofu bowls, these recipes are something for everyone.
Trust me… nothing boring here.
Let’s go!
Why Make High Protein Asian Recipes?
Protein isn’t just for those that workout. It’s an essential nutrient that helps maintain and repair muscle, supports many functions in the body, and helps make meals more satisfying.
Prioritizing protein is a well being essential.
Pairing protein with vegetables, rice, or other carbohydrate sources can make a balanced meal that provides energy and keeps you feeling full. Asian cooking also offers plenty of ways to build flavor with ingredients such as garlic, ginger, miso, vinegar, citrus, and fresh herbs.
Here are a few reasons to add more high-protein Asian meals to your rotation:
Support muscle maintenance. Protein is a brain and muscle food.
Stay satisfied longer. Stop snacking… eat to fuel.
Enjoy balanced meals with protein and a carb. That’s one happy plate!
Get variety without getting bored: Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Thai, and other Asian cuisines offer different seasonings and cooking techniques to keep meals exciting.
Make everyday cooking easier because these recipes stay good as leftovers and are easy to reheat.
Types of High Protein Meals
High Protein Asian Chicken Recipes
Chicken is one of the easiest ways to add protein to your meals.
Great for Weeknight dinners, meal prep, and post-workout meals.
Chicken provides high-quality protein, while aromatics, marinades, and sauces add plenty of flavor.
Choose skinless chicken or remove the skin when you want to reduce fat, and add vegetables for fiber and nutrients.
Protein Asian Beef and Pork Recipes
Beef and pork bring variety to a protein-rich meal, along with nutrients such as iron, zinc, and vitamin B12.
Great for Hearty lunches, comfort food, family dinners, and meals when you want something especially satisfying.
Beef provides protein and iron, while combining meat with tofu or vegetables can add variety and balance.
Variations could be choosing leaner ground beef or sirloin more often, trim visible fat, and serve with vegetables and rice.
Pork ribs and fattier cuts can contain considerably more fat, so enjoy them in smaller portions that suit your needs.
Asian Fish and Seafood Protein Recipes
Fish and seafood are excellent options when you want to switch things up from chicken and red meat. Get your omega-3 vitamins and use fish for lean meals.
Great for lighter dinners, and meals when you want variety throughout the week.
Seafood supplies protein, and oily fish such as salmon provide beneficial omega-3 fatty acids.
Try grilling, air-frying, steaming, or pan-searing with a moderate amount of oil. Add vegetables and rice for a complete meal.
Tofu and Egg Recipes
Tofu absorbs savory sauces beautifully, while eggs make quick, satisfying meals with minimal preparation.
Great for Quick breakfasts, meatless dinners, and easy lunches.
Eggs provide complete protein, while tofu offers plant-based protein and can contribute calcium depending on how it’s made.
Freeze tofu so you can have a “meaty texture” that goes well with most Asian tofu recipes.
Are High Protein Asian Recipes Healthy?
At Rice Life Foodie, I focus on approachable recipes made with natural ingredients and practical cooking methods. These homemade meals also give you more control over the ingredients, cooking fats, added sugar, and salt than many restaurant or takeout dishes.
With that said, these are mostly healthy Asian protein recipes that you can put into your cooking to-do list.
A few things to keep in mind:
High protein doesn’t automatically mean low fat. Chicken wings, pork ribs, and some creamy or fried dishes can contain more fat than lean chicken, fish, or tofu.
Fat isn’t inherently unhealthy. Fish, nuts, seeds, and certain cooking oils provide beneficial fats. The goal is to balance your overall intake rather than eliminate fat.
Watch the sodium in sauces. Soy sauce, miso, oyster sauce, and other seasonings can be high in sodium. Use lower-sodium alternatives if you like.
Add more bok choy, broccoli, leafy greens, mushrooms, or other vegetables to round out your meals and lean them out.
Choose protein recipes you genuinely enjoy, vary your protein sources, and make meals that satisfy your hunger, work for meal prep, and supporting your everyday activities.
