Honey miso salmon is a fast dinner that seems like it took way too much time to make! This is a healthy version of Cheesecake factory miso salmon, so eat it all, eat more, and enjoy! No leftovers with this one.

When I am in the thick of things all day long, quick recipes is my rescue.

I love making salmon in this manner because it is full proof with such a tender, flaky, and satisfying outcome with the salmon. It’s definitely on my weekday-style recipes rotation.

Salmon is one of those fish that should not be over cooked, and not every restaurant can hit that mark.

So, here it is, a way to prepare oven salmon that is so simple and you can make it perfectly straight from your own home oven, directly to serving with no more wait.

While going to the restaurant and having Cheesecake factory miso salmon is a fun day out, there’s something peaceful and nice about home-cooked goodness.

Besides, there’s less chances for the salmon sitting out to dry or be overcooking from sitting out in it’s own heat.

Honey Miso Salmon is fast, easy, five ingredients, and tastes just as good as Cheesecake factory miso salmon.

This miso salmon recipe is especially a versatile choice because it can be adjusted for amounts you need to serve, and each ingredient is available in most pantries.

No sake or dashi or mirin or wines…it’s just straight ingredients that mostly everyone has today, with exception of miso paste (which can be found at most Asian grocery stores or online).

What is Miso Paste?

Miso paste is widely seen as a Japanese staple ingredient, and if you have not discovered miso paste and begun using it in your recipes, now is the time.

I have tried so many kinds of sauces and spices, nothing matches miso. Everyone needs some miso paste in their fridge if Asian recipes with miso come up often.

In a nutshell, miso paste is made from fermented soybeans with salt (along with other things and mixes of barley, rice, buckwheat, rye, etc.). It has myriad health benefits from probiotics, protein, and vitamins.

Miso creates a flavor sensation that is very sought for in many Japanese and Asian cuisines…savory, salty, earthy, sweet…umami.

Ingredients are laid out on a table for an easy salmon recipe. Honey, red miso paste, salmon, soy sauce, scallions, and sesame seeds for garnish.

When miso is added to the blank canvas of salmon, not to mention soups and other proteins, it transforms into something elevated, sensory, and with tongue-hugging umami flavor. This can be done with little to no effort.

A little goes a long way. A small spoon of miso can be easily mixed with other ingredients from honey to vinegar, and will change your dish (soup, salad dressing, sauce, marinades) to something more noticeable.

Miso is an ideal accompaniment for fatty fish like black cod and salmon.

Baked salmon is flaky, freshly baked, glazed with a sweet savory sauce, and served with a steaming side of rice.
Choose this simple salmon recipe if you want a delicious meal, all done in less than twenty minutes. It’s kid friendly too!

Ingredients for honey Miso Salmon

  • salmon filet
  • miso paste
  • honey
  • low sodium soy sauce
  • black and white toasted sesame seeds garnish
  • scallions garnish

Now get ready for a long list of to do’s and techniques…just kidding! It’s easy from here. I will list the steps below.

Preheat the oven to 400 F

  1. Clean and pat dry your salmon filet.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the miso paste, honey, soy sauce. It should be creamy and pasty.
  3. Rub it all over the salmon top and sides, leave the bottom alone.
  4. Have a nice Dutch oven or cast iron oven pan and lightly drizzle some avocado oil.
  5. Next, place the salmon on top in one action. Once placed, do not move it around so the oil stays still underneath.
  6. Put the salmon in the oven, middle rack, for 10 minutes (based on a 1 pound salmon filet). Adjust time per thickness of the oven pan.
  7. After ten minutes, change oven setting to broil and continue for five last minutes.
  8. Remove the salmon and let it rest so it continues to cook through to just right. It will be sizzling on the sides as the natural oils of the salmon add to the sauce. The honey miso glazed salmon should be browned on top.
  9. Lastly, top with the sesame seeds and scallions.
