Maybe you saw strawberry milk on a viral TikTok…well I was drinking this nostalgic pink drink many decades ago when computers were big boxes with green letters and cell phones were brick shaped. A famous bunny and I had a relationship…and it was over this pink drink! Now, welcome the much better-for-you version with fresh strawberries, if you were wondering is strawberry milk good for you. This recipe is made with only four ingredients, and no artificial stuff! (Oh and if you don’t remember, that was Nesquik strawberry milk.)

How to Pick Strawberries
Picking ripe strawberries that are just right can be all done with very few simple tips.
If picking strawberries from a farm
- choose fully red strawberries from top to bottom
- pick from the stem so a little steam is still left, don’t pull off from the stem
- choose red, even, slightly firm texture
If picking strawberries from the Store
- choose the most red strawberries
- flip the clamshell container over, and if you see mushy, wet, and uneven strawberries sticking to the bottom of the container they are not so good
- see that the strawberries look firm, dry, and have a good shake in the container
- make sure you don’t see any mold at the tops of the strawberries
- look at the sell by date and choose the ones that have the later date

How to Make Strawberry Milk
EQUIPMENT
blender or hand-held immersion blender
Ingredients
Fresh ripe strawberries –
These taste best and taste the most ripe. Frozen strawberries are sometimes mixed with more sour picks and don’t always have the most sweet taste. Plus, a reason to go to the farm for picking, or to the farmer’s market is always nice.
Milk of choice –
I chose almond or oatmilk. You can use any milk you like. If you choose regular milk, consume this beverage right away. Use regular versions of your milk choice so everything comes out creamier and full-flavored.
Frozen Strawberries –
Get a few of your strawberries and freeze them. Really gives the strawberry milk an ice cold appeal and doesn’t dilute the drink.
Sweetener –
Use condensed milk or simple syrup (see note below on how to make simple syrup). Do NOT use granulated sugar without making it into simple syrup. You can use honey too, but honey will add a more noticeable honey flavor to the milk.
Vanilla extract –
the ingredient that takes this strawberry milk to the next level
NOTE: To make simple syrup is a 1:1 ratio. Add 1 part hot water, and dissolve 1 part white granulated sugar to make simple syrup. Store leftover in a glass jar in the refrigerator.
Notes
- A very chilled strawberry milk is best.
- Using the ripest strawberries you can find is the tastiest.
- Lots of strawberry bits in the mix is so tongue-hugging and delicious. I like it better than fully blending the strawberries into a puree which makes everything disappear faster. Strawberry bits give enjoying this drink, a little more time.
- Serving with a long spoon makes this a fun treat and more than just a drink.
- Don’t forget to top your drink with lots of fresh strawberries and use natural ingredients, that way the strawberry milk is good for you and your kids.
ADD INS AND VARIATIONS
- use this strawberry milk in Hwachae, a Korean watermelon punch that goes really well with strawberry milk
- pour over shaved ice for a ultra-cool dessert drink
- add in a little evaporated milk for a decadent addition
- add in vanilla ice cream and make it a milk shake
- add in chewy tapioca pearls or boba for a bubble-style beverage
- layer with pure puréed strawberry by puréeing a few strawberries separately and adding the purée to the bottom of the glass or lining the glass with the purée, then adding the rest of the mixture.
Common Questions
No. Citrus-like fruit and milk should be consumed sooner than later. This recipe is for one person so I advise making it at the time you will have it.
Freezing milk can result in a grainy and unappealing texture because the fat freezes differently from the rest of the milk. I do not recommend freezing this recipe. This recipe should be consumed right away.
Strawberry milk is a healthy treat. If you wish to satisfy your sweet-tooth, this drink is fun, has lots of textures, and is only sweetened by your preference level of sugar or condensed milk. It also can be purely sweetened just from ripe strawberries.
It definitely can be. Use your milk of choice and use simple syrup so it will be made vegan.
Brown sugar has lots of flavor and warm caramel notes. You can use it, but the recipe will not taste the same and it will add some of those flavors with the strawberry. This recipe is best with either condensed milk or white sugar.
