A homemade honey latte hits the spot. I have been indulging in the Nordstrom cafe honey almond latte for over a decade and so naturally, I had to start making my own honey lattes at home.
It truly feels very “cafe-ish” and like an upgrade for a home barista of sorts. You can whip up a variation with whipped honey for a luxurious texture twist, or add almond syrup to create the one I mentioned (honey almond latte).
I especially suggest a honey coffee latte when guests come over…the oohs and ahhs will be all over the place.
Why You’ll Love This Honey Coffee Latte
- It’s bold and strong!
- Naturally sweetened with real honey and very adjustable
- Velvety smooth and deeply aromatic
- No artificial syrups or additives
- Customizable with plant-based or dairy milk
- Barista-style taste in minutes
- The vibe is cool, cozy, and even better in a swanky to-go glass with a straw (so Instagram worthy).

Ingredients for a Honey Coffee Latte
- 2 shots of espresso (or 3 tsp of instant coffee)
- ¾ cup milk of choice (whole, oat, almond, cream, etc.)
- 1–2 tablespoons pure honey
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: pinch of cinnamon or sea salt
Equipment You’ll Need
- Espresso machine or Percolator for hot water (if using instant coffee)
- Mug or heat-safe glass

How to Make a Honey Coffee Latte at Home
- Brew your espresso – or strong coffee with just instant coffee and 3 oz of hot water.
- Stir honey into your mug with the hot espresso or instant coffee. Mix until fully dissolved and add a dash of vanilla extract. This is important that the honey is totally dissolved.
- Top with steamed milk of choice or add ice and then add the milk of choice.
- Top with a light sprinkle of cinnamon or pinch of sea salt if desired.
How to Make It Faster
- Use instant espresso powder for a quick, concentrated shot
- Microwave the milk and froth with a handheld frother
- Pre-mix a batch of honey syrup (equal parts honey and water) for instant dissolving

Variations to Try
- Batch Iced Honey Coffee Latte
Add honey to several ounces of espresso or instant coffee mix, cool it down, then store in a big mason jar for a few days worth of honey coffee latte concentrate. Just add milk of choice when ready to serve and reheat or add ice. - Whipped Honey Latte
Use whipped honey in place of regular honey for a creamier, more luxurious texture. Simply add whipped honey to your espresso or instant coffee mix, or add it to whipped cream and top your coffee drink with it. - Spiced Honey Latte
Add a pinch of cardamom, nutmeg, or ginger for a warm and complex flavor…similar to what you find in a golden latte or pumpkin spice latte. - Add Egg Cream on top, such as in the Vietnamese egg cream latte, and add honey in the coffee. This is one of my favorites!

Common Questions
Can I use honey in hot coffee?
Yes! Honey dissolves beautifully in hot liquids and adds a floral sweetness that complements espresso or bold coffee blends.
Is this latte healthy?
This latte uses real honey and natural milk — no processed syrups or refined sugar. It’s a more wholesome way to enjoy a sweetened coffee drink. Plus, you can make it more or less sweet.
What milk works best?
Whole milk gives the creamiest result, but oat milk and almond milk froth wonderfully and taste delicious with honey.
Can I make it vegan?
Yes — swap honey for maple syrup or agave nectar and use a plant-based milk.
This easy honey latte recipe is your gateway to crafting a sophisticated coffee shop moment at home — no complicated gear required. Whether you sip it hot, cold, or with whipped honey, it’s a cozy, calming ritual worth repeating.
